Open Call | Becoming NYCxDesign Festival
Location: Sanders Studios, New York
Exhibition Time: May 16-18
Deadline of Exhibition: May 1

As part of the official exhibition program of NYCxDESIGN 2026, the “Becoming” Art and Design Festival invites artists and designers from diverse backgrounds to create works in response to the theme “Becoming”.
In this exhibition, “Becoming” refers to an ongoing state of transformation. It can be perceived across multiple dimensions—through material, form, narrative, identity, or experience. It may manifest as growth and change, the fluidity of identity, the traces of time, or the evolving interaction between people and the work itself. It may unfold within the structure of a work, or emerge through the process of viewing, sensing, and understanding.
The exhibition is divided into two sections: “Becoming Art” and “Becoming Design.” We welcome works in all forms and media, including jewelry, interactive works, installations, video, and more.
We hope that as visitors move through the exhibition—pausing, observing, and engaging—they will form resonances and connections with the works, and through both contemplation and interaction, discover new perceptions and understandings.
The exhibition featured 10 works by 14 participating artists:
